AJ Ruggieri, a local attorney and Trustee on the Savoy Village Board, has been slated to be the Republican candidate for State Senate in the 52nd District. AJ will be a great candidate and will serve this area very well in Springfield.
When filling a vacancy in nomination when there was no candidate on the primary ballot requires that the candidate be slated by the proper nominating committee and then collect signatures to get placed on the ballot. This has to be done by June 1 so we have a very limited time frame to get 1000 signatures.
We invite you to help us collect signatures in the 52nd District that covers most of Champaign, Savoy, and Urbana, all of Rantoul and Gifford and most of Vermilion County including all of Danville.
AJ's petition is available by clicking here.
The most simple way to help us is to print out the petition and have you and any other registered voters in your household sign the petition, fill out the bottom as a circulator, and contact us by email and we'll have a notary public come by to witness your signature and collect the petition.
We will also be setting up drive through signing locations throughout Champaign and Vermilion Counties. If you would like to volunteer to help staff one of those drive through facilities, let us know.
People can also email us and we'll be able to send out a volunteer to collect your signature.
Further, you may want to get friends and neighbors to sign. With a face mask and proper hygiene, we know that people are able to safely collect signatures. Once again, we'll have a notary come by to witness your signature and collect your petition.
This is an important time in Illinois. We need leaders to step up to represent us. AJ has stepped up and it's time for us to step up and collect these signatures. This is a huge challenge, but we can do it.
