Champaign County Republican Lincoln Day 2010

You’re invited to join the Champaign County Republican Party for our annual Lincoln Day Celebration at 11:30 am, on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Illinois Conference Center in Champaign. We are pleased to announce that Karl Rove, former advisor to President George W. Bush, will deliver the event’s keynote address.

The event is an annual celebration and reflection on the strengths and goals of the local Party. In addition to Rove’s keynote, Jason Barickman, Chairman of the Champaign County Republican Central Committee, will provide an annual “State of the Republican Party in Champaign County” address.  Guests will also have an opportunity to hear from candidates running in November’s federal, state and local elections.

All event proceeds directly benefits Republican candidates running for local offices, including County Board and municipal government. Tickets for the luncheon will be available to the general public beginning on February 26th. As a symbol of the Party’s appreciation for their hard work and volunteerism, Precinct Committeemen will have the opportunity to purchase discounted tickets in advance of the public sale beginning February 18. Tickets will be available for purchase through this website. Due to the high demand for tickets to this special event, and the limited number of seating, we encourage you to reserve tickets once they become available. Parties who are interested in learning about sponsorship opportunities for this unique event should contact Jason Barickman at 217-352-5900.

“Our goal this November is to challenge every Democrat in all federal, state and local races.  It is a privilege and honor to have Karl Rove come to Champaign County to assist in our efforts,” said Jason Barickman, Chairman of the Champaign County Republican Central Committee.

Rove’s visit is part of his book tour promoting his forthcoming memoir, “Courage and Consequence: My Life as a Conservative in the Fight,” scheduled for release March 9.

“‘Courage and Consequence’ is a candid and behind-the-scenes view of some of history’s turbulent and momentous years. It tells how President Bush got to the White House and what happened during his consequential presidency. It’s a frank account of what I witnessed and my often-controversial role,” Rove said.

Rove served as deputy chief of staff and senior adviser to Bush and is largely credited for being the mastermind of Bush’s 2000 and 2004 campaigns. He is now a Fox News contributor, writes a weekly op-ed piece for The Wall Street Journal and is a Newsweek columnist.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Champaign County Republican Lincoln Day on March 20th!
