Please join us on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 7pm Monday, August 1, 2011 at 7pm (please note meeting date change) for a very special meeting of the Champaign County Republican Central Committee. Larry Sapp, long-serving member of the Champaign County Board for district one, has resigned from the County Board. In accordance to the County Board Rules, and the Champaign County Republican Central Committee Bylaws, the elected precinct committeemen who represent district one will cast weighted votes to appoint the new board member.
A list of eligible elected committeemen and their weighted vote totals are available here. If the weighted vote total for your precinct is zero, it means that no ballots cast by district one voters in your precinct, and your weighted vote of zero will not impact the outcome. While only elected precinct committeemen for district one are eligible to vote, all precinct committeemen are encouraged to attend the meeting.
Habeeb Habeeb will lead the impartial meeting and Champaign County Clerk Gordy Hulten will tally the vote totals.
Candidate interviews, discussion, and a possible appointment will take place at this meeting. If you are a resident of Champaign County Board district one who’s interested in serving, please download, complete, and return the Candidate Application to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5pm on Wednesday, July 20, 2011. Interested individuals are welcome to contact Champaign County Board Member Alan Nudo (email@example.com)to inquire about County Board member responsibilities.
Please note that the regularly scheduled Executive and Central Committee Meetings are being delayed by one week to accommodate this important process. No meetings will take place on July 18.
