2008 Champaign County Republican Convention
All Precinct Committeemen, Elected Officials and/or Republican Activists:
I am writing to ask you to join us for the Champaign County Republican Central Committee “County Convention”. As you already know, the County Convention, by statute, must be conducted on March 5th in the county seat. We will be holding our County Convention on March 5, at 7 p.m., at the Urbana Civic Center (108 Water Street, Urbana).
Precinct Committeemen are required to attend this bi-annual business meeting of the local GOP. If you are not a Committeeman, you will be allowed to participate in the meeting, but you will not be allowed to vote. The Committeemen will elect our Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. Additionally, they will vote on the Champaign County Republican Platform, elect 30 delegates and 30 alternate delegates to the Illinois Republican State Convention, approve our annual calendar of events, and make any necessary amendments to our Bylaws. (A complete agenda will be provided at the meeting.) I’ve included a copy of the proposed platform for your advance review.
If you cannot attend, please notify Lisa Mettler at lisa.mettler@hotmail.com by March 2nd. If you would like to designate someone to vote in your absence, your designee must provide a written proxy to Lisa Mettler by the start of our meeting.
I have been proud to serve as your Chairman for the past two years and intend to seek re-election. (I’ve often joked that the pay is hard to pass up!) In all seriousness, I’ve been doing my best to build on our Party’s past successes and make the Champaign County Republicans a leader for all county organizations around the state. We’ve done some great work together, but we still have a long way to go. I’ll discuss our goals at the Convention, and, as always, I hope you’ll provide me with your ideas, comments and feedback.
